Named by the Sunday Times as ‘One of the best places to live in Scotland, 2021’, Melrose is a small town
in the Scottish Borders, resting in the valley below the triple peaks of the Eildon Hills.

Melrose is centrally located in the heart of the Scottish Borders and is easily accessible from all directions.

Melrose by Road

From the north or south by road use the A7 or A68 linked by the A6091 (Melrose by-pass) to reach the town.

By Rail

From Edinburgh, the Borders Railway runs hourly from Edinburgh Waverley to Tweedbank station which is only one and a half miles (2.5 km) from Melrose. You can walk to the town by following the Southern Upland Way along the River Tweed or take a short bus/taxi ride.

By Bus

Melrose is well served with regular services to and from a number of towns in the Scottish Borders with connections available to Edinburgh, Carlisle and Berwick-upon-Tweed.
