Twelve circular walks are described in our “Paths around Melrose” booklet.

The walks vary from short routes exploring local places around the River Tweed, to more strenuous hikes into the nearby hills. The walks are way-marked and include much historical and natural interest. Try exploring Cauldshiels Loch, Abbotsford Estate & Visitor Centre, the hills above Gattonside. the bridges over the Tweed at Leaderfoot, the Leader Water, and (of course) the Eildon Hills.

To select a circular route use the interactive map below. Simply identify the route on the map and click on the appropiate number (or insert) and a new window will open up with route details.

All routes start and finish at the Melrose Abbey car park, opposite the Abbey (charges applied for a period each year – please check) unless otherwise stated.
Toilets: Abbey Street, near car park.
