Abbotsford and River Tweed
Abbotsford and River Tweed – 10 km / 6 miles
A moderate walk following the path along the former railway line, and then a quiet road to reach Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott between 1812-1832.
Explore the Visitor Centre, house, and grounds before continuing the walk along the River Tweed following the Borders Abbeys Way back to Melrose.

Minor roads and mostly good paths, although some stretches along the river could be muddy after rain. Mostly flat or gently sloping (some steps). No special footwear needed.
