A walk through the villages of Darnick and then Gattonside by crossing the River Tweed at the Lowood “bottle" bridge.
Then join the Southern Upland Way along the river and cross over by the Chain Bridge past the Abbey back to Melrose.
Start and Finish: Abbey car park, Buccleuch Street.
Time: Allow 2 - 2½ hours
Terrain: Roads and mostly good paths, although some stretches by the river could be muddy after rain. Mostly flat
or gently sloping. No special footwear needed.
Toilets: Abbey Street near car park.
